Unlike clothes and shoes, jewelry isn’t always something you take on and off every day. That means it can veer more trend agnostic than, say, a handbag or a dress. But the top jewelry trends for winter 2021 are anything but subtle. Between the floral-inspired bling seen at Peter Do, Simone Rocha, and Acne; the statement collar necklaces at Fendi, Dior, and Paco Rabanne; and the return of fringe in metal form at Marni, Chanel, and Jil Sander, this season’s go-to jewels were made to turn heads.
“I believe jewelry is the fairy godmother of fashion,” says Sarah Slutsky, a celebrity stylist who works with clients like Ella Hunt and Elizabeth Olsen. “It can completely transform a look while also adding personal value to a wardrobe. At the same time, jewelry can lend an unexpected element of edge or grace depending on the look you’re trying to achieve.”

Her favorite jewelry trend for the upcoming season? Mixed metals. “I like pieces that can layer together to create the effect or ones that have hybrid elements within.”

From the glitz-heavy Paco Rabanne winter collection to the always shiny Oscar de la Renta, the message for the season is simple: You glow, girl. And the piece of choice to help you turn heads is the bold, look-at-me statement earring, Angela Fink says.
“I always default to a bold earring, and I think this winter, we are even seeing some glam rhinestones too,” says Fink, citing the bold gemstone necklaces seen at Paco Rabanne and the fringed, shoulder-grazing chandelier earrings at Saint Laurent. “We’ve been in our homes for a while; it’s time for some fun.”

“One of the biggest jewelry trends I’ve seen and love is the resurgence of pearls in everyday wardrobes,” Meeka Hossain, a content creator living in Los Angeles, says. “They’ve made a comeback into our daily outfits in the form of chokers, anklets, earrings, and more.”
A dainty pearl pendant can add a touch of sophistication to any minimalist winter outfit.
Chokers have always enjoyed the occasional resurgence, but this time, they’re more glam than punk. Labels like Dior, Fendi, and Acne all showed us how elegant—and transformative—the right choker necklace can be. The former tucked logo-adorned chokers under collars for a subtler look, while the latter went more literal with the trend. Hossain loves to style this choker “with a cool oversized blazer, bralette top, and baggy jeans or midi skirt.” See here.
