When it comes to A-list fashion, nobody in the spotlight promotes sustainability more than Emma Watson. From wearing a Calvin Klein dress made completely of recycled plastic bottles to creating an entire Instagram account devoted to the eco-friendly brands she wore on her Beauty and the Beast press tour, Watson knows a thing or two about how to dress in a sustainable manner.

Simon Miller

Simon Miller is a name to know in the world of accessories – and in the world of sustainability. As Watson’s stylist Rebecca Corbin-Murray revealed, the brand uses organic mills to “reduce impact and conserve water”, as well as incorporating ozone technology into its production. The small top-handled bucket bags are fast becoming something of a cult item: and it’s not hard to see why.

In honour of Earth Day, every April the brand donates proceeds from jewellery sales to Trees for the Future (@Treesftf), which helps communities alleviate poverty, affects positive social change and improves both local and global environments by working with farming communities along environmentally degraded and highly travelled trade corridors. Simon Miller produces the entire women’s collection in the USA in collaboration with organic mills to reduce their impact and conserve water, in addition to working with independently run family mills and artisans in France and Japan. The brand focuses heavily on incorporating OZONE technology in their production, as well as employing ceramic stones in the denim wash processes. Simon Miller donates excess product on a yearly basis to local organisations.
