Fendi Couture Spring/Summer 2021

Kim Jones Debuts His First Collection for Fendi.

Designer, Kim Jones, makes his official debut for Fendi, presenting his first Fendi Couture Spring/Summer 2021 collection. It was a star-studded event that featured models Kate Moss, Bella Hadid, Adwoa Aboah, Christy Turlington and Naomi Campbell as well as actor, Demi Moore. For his debut, the newly appointed artistic director revealed a stunning collection consisting of 19 looks that were inspired by the Bloomsbury Group, in particular, Virginia Woolf’s Orlando.

Influences from the gender-blurring novel are reflected throughout, displayed through feminine and masculine silhouettes. Other traces of Orlando weaved their way into the collection as metal-bound book clutches and excerpts inscribed into minaudières or leather boots. Marble motifs visible in woven jacquards and on silken gowns inform Italian aesthetics that were cherished by members of the Bloomsbury Group and ties seamlessly with the Italian heritage of the House.

The show set was equally as stunning: a glass labyrinth fashioned after the iconic Fendi FF logo housed miniature gardens that evoked the British countryside and marbled floors inspired by Rome’s Galleria Borghese. The maze also doubled as an exhibition of rare books and ephemera.
