Meghan Markle Wears Givenchy Again at Her First Royal Ascot

Meghan Markle just keeps crossing royal “firsts” off her list. The latest event is the Royal Ascot, the annual week of horse races at Britain’s best-known racecourses. The Queen, a longtime horse lover, attends the special event, and so do other members of the royal family. Usually Prince William and Kate Middleton also attend, though it’s unclear whether the new mom of three will be present since she’s on maternity leave.

Even with Kate out of the picture, the Ascot wasn’t short on duchesses today. All eyes were on the newlywed Duchess of Sussex (who celebrates her one-month anniversary to the Duke) as she arrived in the third carriage with her hubby.

According to royal reporters, the Duchess is once again in Givenchy (who dressed her for her wedding ceremony and first solo engagements with the Queen last week). She paired the cream-colored look with a Philip Treacy hat. Sophie, Countess of Wessex (Prince Harry’s uncle and Prince Edward’s wife) sat beside her.

Meanwhile the Queen went with a sunny yellow look. Her Majesty looked especially happy, perhaps since she welcomed her seventh great-grandchild yesterday.

Duchess Camilla wore a lovely cream ensemble.

Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie went for light blue and white looks, respectively.

Markle recently wore an off-the-shoulder Carolina Herrera at Trooping the Colour, which raised eyebrows to some who deemed she was “breaking royal protocol.”(She wasn’t.) The blush ensemble was gorgeous and fit the Duchess perfectly, but it wouldn’t fly at the Ascot—the dress code is against Bardot necklines. Today, she sported a coat fitting for the occasion.
