Remember These? Three Iconic Fashion Items Are Making a Comeback

By

At Dior, Chloé, and McQueen, designers brought back beloved pieces from the early 2000s

Peak fashion nostalgia has hit Paris Fashion Week. Over the last several days, designers have brought back key items from the early 2000s—the It pieces once worn and beloved by everyone from Paris Hilton to Sienna Miller.

First up was Dior designer Maria Grazia Chiuri’s reimagining of the brand’s iconic “J’Adore Dior” tank tops, which were first designed by John Galliano during his tenure at the house. In their new iteration, they come with lace embroidery and marbling on the font of the slogan. It’s no wonder Chiuri chose to remix them, as the vintage versions of these early aughts must-haves are gold to the kids who didn’t live through Y2K but idolize the style born in that era.

The same goes for Chloé’s Paddington bag, a chunky, insanely cool carryall worn, back in the day, by boho queens like the Olsen twins and Kate Bosworth. At the Chloé show earlier this week, Chemena Kamali ushered in the Paddington’s glorious return on the Fall 2025 runway. She did the same thing last season with the brand’s wooden clogs, which were worn by every single front row VIP—including Miller, the unofficial Chloé ambassador. Of course, the photo went viral and thus, so did the shoes.

Virality may have had something to do with why McQueen designer Seán McGirr brought back the house’s signature skull print scarf tonight. On his wild months-long fashion ride leading up to the Oscars, actor Timothée Chalamet has worn vintage versions of the 2000s accessory, resurrecting the scarf and implanting it back into our collective consciousness. And there it will remain, especially after McGirr’s show tonight in Paris, in which models carried bags with the scarves tucked into the top and tail ends dragging across the ground.

That kind of nonchalant attitude is exactly what fashion was all about in the Y2K era, whether by way of a crumpled scarf tied casually around the neck, a Dior logo tank worn with Juicy couture track pants, or a scuffed-up, over-stuffed Paddington slung over someone’s arm. What a time to be alive and in fashion—then and now.
