Jason Wu returned to the runway for the first time since Fall 2018, but it seems that his main sources of inspiration—florals—has stuck around since he last sent models down a runway at New York Fashion Week. This season, however, the florals felt less polished, and the set design of the show mirrored that shift in aesthetic. In the past, Wu collaborated with Putnam & Putnam on almost architectural floral installations, but his wildflower alleys this week felt more overgrown and laissez-faire. The clothes mirrored that ease: Suiting without stiffness, washed silks, thigh-high slits, bralette tops, and hand-plated gowns that seemed to waft down the runway were only some of Wu’s more relaxed takes on romance. —Carrie Goldberg
