So what’s in store? Hand-drawn horse motifs run through the collection, creating dynamic compositions across silk scarves, cotton accessories and wool layers. The designs capture movement through linear forms, resulting in prints that feel considered rather than obvious.

Where Tradition Meets Contemporary Design

The collection blends traditional influences with modern sensibilities. Consequently, ready-to-wear pieces appear in vibrant spring tones and grounded neutrals, drawing inspiration from natural elements and their harmonious balance.

Rich red wool knits stand out as collection highlights, alongside fluid silhouettes and versatile sets crafted for effortless styling. Additionally, the pieces are designed for moments with loved ones, elevating everyday dressing through refined details and relaxed shapes.

A Teahouse in a Temple

COS celebrated the launch with a pop-up at Tianhou Palace in Shanghai, running from 23rd to 26th January. The historic maritime shrine, built in 1884, served as an evocative setting for the capsule presentation.

The brand reimagined the ambience of a traditional Chinese teahouse within the temple’s serene courtyards. Here, visitors could discover the collection whilst attending tea workshops and participating in a wishing tree installation. The tree, adorned with red cotton and silk leaves, invited guests to leave their hopes for the new year.

After the event concluded, the tree was replanted, demonstrating the brand’s thoughtful approach to experience design.

Availability and Approach

The Year of the Horse capsule is available online and in selected COS stores from 23rd January 2026. The collection reflects the brand’s design philosophy: considered, relevant and refined.

For those seeking festival pieces that work beyond a single occasion (which makes for smart shopping), this capsule delivers. It’s contemporary design that acknowledges heritage without being bound by it.
