LVMH Watch Week: TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Just Got a Bold New Update

TAG Heuer’s New Carrera Chronograph Brings Racing Heritage to Your Wrist

Unveiled just last week at LVMH Watch Week, TAG Heuer has unveiled three new additions to its Carrera Chronograph collection. Furthermore, these 41mm timepieces extend the brand’s celebrated glassbox design with fresh appeal for contemporary watch enthusiasts. Better still, we were lucky enough to review the models firsthand at the TAG Heuer boutique in The Exchange TRX recently.

Unveiling the new TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph, where racing DNA meets modern design.

As a refresher, the Carrera story began in 1963 when Jack Heuer created a watch specifically for motorsport timing. Named after the legendary Carrera Panamericana road race, it prioritised legibility and precision. Now, this new 41mm chronograph honours that heritage whilst offering a slightly larger presence than the existing 39mm heritage model.

At the heart of the design sits TAG Heuer’s signature glassbox aesthetic. Specifically, the sculptural sapphire crystal curves seamlessly over the dial, catching light from every angle. Meanwhile, the clean, date-free face features monochromatic counters that enhance both depth and readability.

Three Distinctive Expressions

The collection launches with three compelling options. First, the signature blue dial combines circular brushing with azuré tone-on-tone counters for understated sophistication. On the other hand, the teal green version introduces a rich hue that’s becoming synonymous with TAG Heuer’s current aesthetic. This particular dial plays beautifully with light, creating subtle colour shifts throughout the day. (And if pressed to choose, this was our favourite!)

For those seeking a sportier edge however, the black dial variant features red chronograph accents and a coloured outer ring. Of the three, this model channels the energy of the racetrack most vividly whilst maintaining the collection’s refined sensibility.

All three models come paired with TAG Heuer’s seven-row steel bracelet. Notably, this represents a contemporary take on the classic beads-of-rice design, balancing comfort with visual interest.

Technical Excellence

Powering these chronographs is the in-house Calibre TH20-01 movement. It offers an impressive 80-hour power reserve, vertical clutch engagement, and column wheel precision. Moreover, the transparent caseback reveals the movement’s intricate architecture.

Each piece also features the Victory Wreath engraving on the right lug. Consequently, this subtle detail connects wearers to TAG Heuer’s motorsport legacy.

Retailed at at RM32,650 and available from January 2026, these chronographs represent an accessible entry point into serious watchmaking. Therefore, they deserve consideration from anyone seeking both heritage and contemporary appeal.

A Cultural Celebration

Beyond the core collection, also available for our review was the festive TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Year of the Horse Automatic, a steel beauty made especially for the Lunar New Year. This special Carrera Chronograph arrives as a limited edition of just 250 pieces. And take a gander at that gorgeous face: its dial features a warm ember gradient transitioning from deep crimson to champagne gold, evoking the fiery vitality of the legendary Fire Horse.

Moreover, the Chinese character “马” appears subtly at 9 o’clock, bridging Eastern symbolism with Swiss watchmaking precision. The 39mm case houses 18K 5N rose gold plated hands and indexes with red accents. Additionally, the sapphire caseback reveals a print of a galloping horse whilst showcasing the Calibre TH20-07 automatic movement with its 80-hour power reserve. Each individually numbered piece arrives in festive packaging, making it a genuine collector’s treasure. The TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Year of the Horse Automatic retails for RM33,300.
