3. The Motorcycle Diaries (2004)

Based on the memoir by the Marxist Revolutionary Che Guevara, The Motorcycle Diaries follows young Ernesto ‘Che’ Guevara (Gael García Bernal) on a four-month, 8,000km motorcycle journey across South America. The 23-year-old and his friend hope to see parts of the continent that they’ve only read about in books, but the illusion of a hedonistic adventure is fractured by the eye-opening poverty and injustice they see along the way. The film tracks the journey that revealed Guevara’s calling, with an endless backdrop of South America’s most stunning landmarks.
