Faded movie star Bob Harris (Bill Murray) and newlywed Charlotte (Scarlett Johansson) have little in common except feeling lost in their lives and finding themselves spending sleepless nights in their hotel bar in Tokyo. The two experience a type of loneliness only possible in a metropolitan city full of people and strike up an unlikely companionship, as they explore the bright lights and electric energy of Tokyo.
