According to a statement by The Straits Times, Russel expressed his thoughts after his win. “If I sat down and made a list at the start of the season of the races I thought we could win, this would be right at the bottom.” This relates back to the notorious crash in 2023—crashing into the barriers—and the recent second practice session on 3 October, which took place at the Singapore Grand Prix.

While celebrations filled the air, the McLaren team secured their second consecutive Constructors’ Championship title with an impressive total of 650 points this season. Lando Norris’s podium finish in Singapore played a crucial role in solidifying McLaren’s status as the most dominant team of the year. The team’s success can be attributed to both Norris and Oscar Piastri achieving remarkable victories throughout the season.

Taken from ESPN, CEO Zak Brown confessed his thoughts on the title, “Unbelievable team here, unbelievable team back at the factory all the men and women have done such an awesome job. The leadership Andrea [Stella] has provided to the race team, the whole leadership team, our owners, our shareholders it’s such a team effort and it’s pretty awesome to go back-to-back — it’s been a while since we’ve done it.”

However, the race wasn’t without drama. As Russell started from P1 on the grid, Norris made contact with Verstappen’s rear and collided with his teammate Piastri, prompting Piastri to express his frustration over the team radio: “Are we cool with Lando just barging me out of the way? I mean that wasn’t very team-like, but sure.”

Tensions also ran high off the track, as Williams drivers Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz were disqualified from qualifying due to technical infringements. This resulted in both drivers starting from the 20th and 18th positions, respectively, but they fought their way through with Albon claiming 14th and Sainz in 10th.

The race featured no retirements, and the final standings saw Piastri finish in 4th place, followed by Kimi Antonelli in 5th, Charles Leclerc in 6th, Fernando Alonso in 7th, Lewis Hamilton in 8th, and Oliver Bearman in 9th.
