Taking up residence in London’s Regent’s Park for three months this summer, Frieze Sculpture has returned for its second consecutive year, transforming the English Gardens into an expansive outdoor gallery.

Among the 25 international artists exhibiting this year are a number of leading female figures, including the Bangladesh-born Rana Begum, whose colourful stained-glass structure reflects the changing light beautifully, and South Africa’s Michele Mathison, who explores the collapse of civilisation through her provocative street-lamp sculptures. Rachel Feinstein’s majolica designs are inspired by the ornate commedia dell’arte figurines of the rococo sculptor Franz Anton Bustelli, while Laura Ford’s dancing figures encapsulate the joy of being outdoors.

Elsewhere, Richard Woods’ arresting Holiday Home brings a playful new architectural landmark to Regent’s Park and Simon Periton’s sculptural leaf is an appropriately organic form for the verdant setting.

For the first time this year, two emerging art institutions – Hannah Barry Gallery and Copperfield Gallery – will participate in the exhibition, supported by Mtec, providing a platform for future generations of artistic talent. Visitors can also download the Frieze Sculpture app for a free audio tour by Clare Lilley and take part in family trails led by the Royal Society of Sculptors.
