After announcing yesterday that he’s skipping the royal wedding following his staged paparazzi fallout, Thomas Markle told TMZ today that he now wants to attend the wedding and walk his daughter, Meghan Markle, down the aisle. He says he changed his mind after Meghan reached out to him.
Not all is solved, however. There’s still a serious chance Thomas won’t be able to make it to St. George’s Chapel on May 19. He’s currently back at the hospital for chest pains after suffering a heart attack last week. Doctors said the attack left his heart “seriously damaged,” per TMZ.

Thomas added that if the doctors let him out of the hospital, he’ll “risk his health and fly to England so he can be with his daughter,” TMZ reports. He’s trying to get released on Wednesday, May 16, but doctors have yet to confirm if he can leave then.
“I hate the idea of missing one of the greatest moments in history and walking my daughter down the aisle,” he told the site.
Thomas said Meghan tried calling him yesterday but he wasn’t near his phone to pick up. The bride-to-be then followed up with a text saying she loves him and is concerned for his health. (This follows reports last night stating that Thomas hadn’t heard from his daughter since his announcement.)
He added that Meghan has no harsh feelings towards him for faking and getting paid for paparazzi photos showing his preparations for the royal wedding.
“Of course I’d walk her down the aisle,” he told TMZ. “This is a historic moment. I’d like to be a part of history.”
Thomas has still not met Prince Harry or members of the royal family. If he does make it out of the hospital in time for the wedding, he’ll have a lot of catching up to do.
