In a nutshell, my job involves… embodying Maje, managing a team of stylists and nourishing them with creative ideas, anticipating women’s needs and desires, controlling the image of the brand through the approval of advertising campaigns, visual merchandising, store design, making sure our messaging is coherent and much more.
When I was a child I wanted to be… a photographer.
I got into this industry by… chance. I initially did an internship at my older sister’s brand, Sandro, where I continued to work for almost 10 years.
I love what I do because… it’s a passion and I’m thankful every day that I get to do it.
The best part of my day is… preparing breakfast for my son in the morning and taking the time to chat with him before heading to the office.
The hardest part of my day… answering urgent requests while I’m working on fittings, the part of the job I enjoy the most.
The aspect of my job that always surprises people is… that it isn’t always glamorous – it’s a serious undertaking.
The three skills that help me succeed are… passion, determination and always following my instincts.
The biggest change in my industry at the moment is… the accelerating pace of our industry.
My role model is… my grandmother.
The one thing I wish I’d known when I started out is… that the industry constantly requires brands to reinvent themselves, which is sometimes not an easy task. It can be frustrating but I love being pushed to achieve more.
Anyone wanting to do my job should begin by… learning every aspect of the job and being unafraid to follow their instinct.
In 10 years’ time, I’d like to be… still working at Maje – I have so many more things to accomplish.
