Naomi Campbell has officially earned her doctorate.
Last week, the University for the Creative Arts awarded the supermodel with an honorary doctorate degree that recognized her decades-spanning impact on the fashion world. She accepted the honor onstage during a graduation ceremony at the Royal Festival Hall, where she gave an emotional speech to the graduates.
In a touching post shared to Instagram today, Campbell reflected on the honor.
“Graduation Day , I’m beyond words of gratitude and emotion to receive such an honor from @unicreativearts,” she captioned a slideshow of photos from her special day. “Thank you for the warm embrace class of 20 , 21, 22 .. You are our future creatives and cannot wait to see your contribution to the world . Thank you President and Vice-Chancellor Bashir Makhoul.”
She also gave a shout-out to her mom and baby daughter. “Thank you to my mother @valeriemorriscampbell &my family for standing by side .. and my chosen family,” she continued. “And thank you to my higher power GOD Almighty for guiding me each day .. and my biggest blessing my daughter ., ❤️🙏🏾.”
For the occasion, Campbell wore the school’s cap and gown over a head-turning Burberry pantsuit, the waistline of which extended all the way past her chest. She capped the ensemble off with black boots and layers of silver necklaces and bracelets.
Campbell’s mom, Valerie Morris, was in attendance for the ceremony. She opted for a vibrant color palette, wearing a bright orange blouse and matching trousers that cinched at the waist with a belt.
