Buzzing its way around the globe, APT isn’t just a catchy new song, it’s named after a Korean drinking game called the “apartment game.” And yes, that’s why the most addictive part of the song is “apateu, apateu…”, which is how you say “apartment” in Korean.

Here’s how the game works: players stack their hands, and the leader calls out a number. Then, one by one, players pull their hands out from the bottom. But here’s the twist, if you pull your hand out on the leader’s number or repeat a number, you’ve got to drink as a penalty. Simple, right? But don’t be fooled – it’s a ton of fun.

What’s even cooler is that this playful game is now teaching people worldwide a slice of Korean culture. Suddenly, everyone’s not just singing APT but also trying out the game. Fans are even jumping into other Korean drinking games, too.
