Unboxing: Samsung Galaxy Buds2 Pro

A smartphone is a necessary accessory in our day to day, so what better gift idea for this season of giving than something that can enhance the experience with one’s smartphone? Especially when the smartphone in question is from the Samsung Galaxy series itself.

We’ve got our hands on the latest earbuds from Samsung: the Galaxy Buds2 Pro, the latest evolution to last year’s Galaxy Buds Pro, Naturally, a little unboxing exercise is in order, so here is our first impression of the Samsung Galaxy Buds2 Pro.

Uncovering the contents of the box

The Samsung Galaxy Buds2 Pro is packaged in a black box, said to be made out of recycled materials. The front of the box displays an image of the Galaxy Buds2 Pro in one of three colours available for purchase, namely Samsung’s signature Bora Purple, White, or Graphite, the latter of which is the model we are unboxing.

Inside the box, we then uncover the square-shaped charging case that houses the actual buds, a cable for charging with USB-type C at both ends, an option of ear tips in three different sizes, as well as an envelope that contains the user manual.

The design of the charging case & earbuds

As is standard for all Samsung devices now, the charging cable does not come with its own power adapter, so for non-Samsung users, you’d have to purchase an adapter specifically for USB-type C cables separately. What this reviewer immediately loves about the Galaxy Buds2 Pro is the texture of its charging case and earbuds. Unlike its predecessor’s glossy, high-shine surface, the Buds2 Pro has a rubberised matt texture that feels comfy to the touch. Not unlike the “jelly” fashion accessories that are the trend du jour in runway collections these past seasons.

The size of both charging case and earbuds are now smaller than the Buds Pro, by 15 per cent. And that makes quite the difference. The slimmer profile of the case feels less bulky in one’s pocket and can otherwise be easily slipped into a handbag without taking too much space.

The rubberised surface also offers a firmer grip, less slippery than the Galaxy Buds Pro. And its profile is more streamlined, unlike its rather bulbous predecessor. The aforementioned ear tips come in the same colour as the earbuds, ensuring that you have size options to properly secure the Galaxy Buds2 Pro to your ear canal.

So at first glance, the Galaxy Buds2 Pro is a step in the right direction as the next evolution of the Buds Pro. Smoother design aesthetics, a more comfortable size yet still maintaining a luxe appeal that mirrors its price tag (RM899).
