Founder of KIN Jewellery, Zaireen Iskandar shares her experience of test driving the Volvo C40 Recharge Pure Electric

What was your first impression of the Volvo C40 Recharge Pure Electric?
I’ve been a huge fan of Volvo since I was a kid. We actually already have the XC90 at home and I was so thrilled that it was a hybrid. So, I was definitely impressed at the look of the new Volvo C40 Recharge Pure Electric, how well it drives and how much mileage we can get in a full charge.

What caught your eyes in terms of the exterior design?
I like that the car looked compact, but it actually has enough space for 2 kids, 3 bikes, bags, and more.
What did you like most about the interior of the car?
I love the entire dashboard, the information it holds, and the ease of navigation. And, I also love that the car is sleek, clean, and very Scandinavian – just how I like it.
How was your experience driving the car?
It’s a super easy and smooth car to drive. It’s quiet as a mouse because of its electric characteristics, it handles the road well, and I felt it was very nippy – perfect for city living.
What’s the difference when driving an electric car in comparison to a normal car?
How quiet it is is the main one. I always feel electric cars are smoother and lighter. Due to the huge range of battery, it was nice to know that I didn’t have to check for petrol levels for over a week as charging the car was super easy. I would charge it overnight, and the next day I don’t have to worry at all about its battery. I felt it was reliable.
Do you think this car is suitable for working women and mothers like yourself?
100%. As mentioned above, I had one less thing to worry about because the car was already charged overnight. For city living, it’s small and compact – super easy to get around. Super nippy, and yet it still has a lot of boot space for my kids’ bags, toys, bikes you name it.
Even the sound system is on point. And, I loved the navigation screen and dashboard as it is easy to use.
Was it easy charging the car?
Yes, it was super easy. We installed a power plug in our apartment car park – since our management was kind enough to encourage electric cars – as we already have a Volvo, so charging it overnight when I got home was the easiest thing to do.
Tell us why do you think electric car is the future of automobile?
It has to be. The world is moving to electric cars and greater sustainability in general and most major automakers are investing heavily in electric vehicle technology. This has led to the development of more advanced batteries, longer driving ranges, and faster charging times which allows better efficiency, just like this Volvo!
