The theme of next week’s Met Gala is Comme des Garçons/Rei Kawakubo, which will be only the second time ever a living designer has been honoured at the event (the first being Yves Saint Laurent in 1983).
Kawakubo is known for pushing the boundaries on the catwalk and treading the line between high fashion and fine art, so we expect to see some of the most avant-garde red-carpet outfits of all time.
Want to know what to expect? We have rounded up 10 of the most ‘out there’ moments from the Comme des Garçons catwalk. We can’t wait to see what the night will hold.
MENSWEAR AUTUMN/WINTER 2014
Said to be inspired by David Lynch’s 1980 film, The Elephant Man as well as the Hindu elephant god Ganesh and even gas masks, hairdresser Julien dYs – who has been working with the house for a decade – created this oiled masterpiece on the models’ hair. We could see Jared Leto recreating this look on 1 May.
