Kim Kardashian West has shown her passion for justice before, but now, she’s taking it to the next level.

The reality star says that she’s currently studying to become a criminal justice lawyer and wants to take her exams in 2022. She has already started a four-year apprenticeship with a law firm in San Francisco.

Kardashian also played a role in Alice Marie Johnson being released from prison in June 2018, who was then serving a life sentence for a non-violent drug charge. The star fought for her case and even visited Donald Trump in the White House to argue her release. The president eventually granted the 63-year-old clemency.

Kardashian could soon follow in the footsteps of her father Robert Kardashian, who was famously on OJ Simpson’s defence team. It meant that from a young age she was exposed to the legal world, telling US Voguethat “on the weekends they used our home as an office, with Johnnie Cochran and Bob Shapiro”.

“My dad had a library, and when you pushed on this wall there was this whole hidden closet room, with all of his OJ evidence books,” she explained. “On weekends I would always snoop and look through. I was really nosy about the forensics.”

Kardashian is currently being mentored by two lawyers, Jessica Jackson and Erin Haney, and over the summer she’ll take the “baby bar” test. If she passes, she will be allowed to continue for three more years of study.

She explained that “to me, torts is the most confusing, contracts the most boring, and crim law I can do in my sleep”.

“Took my first test, I got a 100. Super easy for me. The reading is what really gets me. It’s so time-consuming. The concepts I grasp in two seconds.”
