Sarah Burton, creative director at Alexander McQueen, is the winner of the Trailblazer Award at this year’s Fashion Awards.

Burton’s win honours her personal and visionary work through her narrative approach to McQueen’s spring/summer 2020 show. Her extraordinary work hasn’t gone unnoticed, and she has been praised for championing craftsmanship in the UK, highlighting skills that are important to the brand and the wider industry.

Over the past year, Burton has drawn on the expertise of fabric mills in the North of England, Mallon linen and Irish beetling.

Caroline Rush: BFC executive, said: “Sarah’s empowering and narrative approach to shows and her focus on community and appreciation of craft, technology and English heritage is what has made her one of the most respected designers of our time.”
