CHANGING THE FABRIC

While trends come and go, a more conscious approach with sustainability  in mind is inevitably the direction that fashion is headed to in the long run. This year, KLFW speaks up with the trendy yet environmentally conscious Design to Sustain programme featuring 13 aspiring young designers—previous finalists of the AirAsia Runway Ready Designer Search (AARRDS). Hand-picked to present their one-of-a-kind designs made from pre-loved materials sourced from local bundle shops, they will grace the runway alongside pioneers of the Malaysian fashion industry. The Design To Sustain initiative is also using its platform to showcase the designs of local brands Ayu by Tarik, SeanSheila, and Tsyahmi X BijiBiji. Using locally sourced materials for their garments, these designers are changing the industry one stitch at a time.
