Nothing makes you feel a yearning for cosy stone cottages, open fires and the snow-covered British countryside than The Holiday. Most of us will be familiar with the story, but for those who aren’t, two unsatisfied, but very different women – who have never met – swap houses in Surrey and LA at Christmas. It’s no big spoiler to say that they both find love and happiness. Sugary it might be, but The Holiday is still a feel-good watch that makes the UK look as enticing as sun-soaked California.
