Homelessness doesn’t sound like the cheeriest subject matter for a festive film, but the Ken Loach-esque Hector is uplifting and faith-restoring. Peter Mullan plays a Scotsman who travels from his motherland to London to stay in the same shelter that he has spent Christmas in for the past 15 years. Along the way, he seeks to reconnect with his estranged brothers and sisters, and discovers that good will, kindness and charity are more commonplace than he imagined.
