Rebecca Hendin

The Stranger, 2017, Rebecca Hardin

Current Status… The ex-BuzzFeed illustrator was the creative spirit behind Amnesty International’s 2017 Write for Rights campaign, following closely after acclaimed contemporary artist Ai Weiwei contributed his portraits in 2016.

Freedom of Expression… Using a digital tablet as her canvas, Hendin’s eclectic compositions reflect her liberal views. Her past illustrations for BBC Culture’s ‘Stories that Shaped the World’ series spans from how novelist Ralph Ellison’s Invisible Man foreshadowed the reformist racial politics in America and to how author Gabriel García Márquez’s One Hundred Years of Solitude redefined Latin America.

Spotlight… Don’t miss out on her series of political cartoons for GoComics, specifically The Royal Trumpenbaums.
