The Tribeca Film Festival kicks off tonight with the premiere of The First Monday in May and runs through April 24.

#1. The First Monday In May

 This documentary takes you behind the scenes at the Met Gala—”the Oscars of fashion”—and the 2015 exhibition it celebrated, China: Through the Looking Glass, the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s fifth most-visited show ever.

#2. A Hologram for the King

Based on the book by Dave Eggers, A Hologram for a King stars Tom Hanks as a down-on-his-luck businessman trying to save his job by selling a huge idea to the king of Saudi Arabia.

#3. Custody​

New York Family Court sets the stage for myriad battles both public and private: judge Martha Schulman (Viola Davis) faces difficult decisions in the court room while dealing with a failing marriage at home, Sara (Catalina Sandino Moreno) must battle for her son after an incident at his school and law school grad Alexandra (Hayden Panettiere) finds herself struggling with the past when she takes on Sara’s case.

#4. ​Equals

In a dystopian world where emotions are suppressed at all costs, Nia (Kristen Stewart) and Silas (Nicholas Hoult) fall in love.

​#5. All This Panic

 What’s it like to be a teenager in New York City? This documentary follows Ginger and Dusty through the trials and tribulations of pre-adulthood.

#6. Elvis & Nixon​

Michael Shannon plays The King and Kevin Spacey the 37th president of the United States in this fictionalized account of what happened after Elvis arrived at the White House on December 21, 1970 demanding to join the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs.
#7. A Kind of Murder​

 Based on the Patricia Highsmith novel The Blunderer, A Kind of Murder follows Walter Stackhouse(Patrick Wilson) who, unhappy with his marriage to Clara, fantasizes about killing her.

#8. High-Rise​

 In 1970s London, Dr. Robert Laing (Tom Hiddleston) moves into the high-rise, a towering apartment complex where debauchery rules the day and class warfare breaks out at night. Also starring Sienna Miller, Jeremy Irons, Luke Evans and Elisabeth Moss.

#9. Southwest of Salem​: The Story of the San Antonio Four

Fans of Making a Murderer will devour this documentary, which tells the story of four women accused of the sexual assault of two young girls by way of witchcraft.
