The 72nd edition of the Cannes Film Festival has arrived and the showcase of the world's greatest film talent won't be one to disappoint. In spirit of the opening, here are some of the films we can expect to succeed at the award season later on in the year.

Pain And Glory

SONY PICTURES CLASSICS

Another big name in the world of film-making returns and that is the Spanish filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar, renowned for his previous works including Volver and The Skin I Live In. This year, he debuts Pain and Glory which focuses on the life of filmmaker Salvador Mallo, played by Antonio Banderas and Penelope Cruz stars as his mother. Almodóvar includes his usual cinematic codes: a bold colour palette, an operatic soundtrack and wide panoramas.
