10 Best Photos from ‘The Art of Style by Farah Khan’

From June 27 to July 1, the breathtaking Maîtres de l'art Collection by Farah Khan debuted at London’s Halcyon Gallery. The private exhibition, The Art of Style by Farah Khan, showcased 30 couture dresses inspired by great Masters of the 20th Century from Picasso and Matisse to Chagall and Monet. Also on display was a limited-edition collection of Andy Warhol-inspired bomber jackets. The 10 jackets were based on Warhol’s Advertising Portfolio on exhibit at Halcyon Gallery, featuring such vibrant hits as “Mobil Ad” and “Rebel Without A Cause”.

Rounding up the exhibition was an exclusive capsule collection of couture jackets based on the work of sculptor Lorenzo Quinn; Four Loves and Forces of Love translated Khan's signature rich embellishments onto jackets detailing the artist’s metal-based sculptures. Incidentally, Quinn’s work “Four Loves” was based on the literary work of CS Lewis.

Honoured guests included Monaco's ambassador Her Excellency Evelyne Genta, Mr Quinn himself and art patron Datin Chai Schnyder. The latter wore her very own Farah Khan Couture dress, inspired by a Picasso she herself owns.

A look from the couture collection

“This exhibition is the culmination of years of passion, observation and travel, and of course, the dedication and hard work of my incredible design team,” says Dato’ Seri Dr Farah Khan, president and founder of The Melium Group and creative director of her eponymous label. “Art is the greatest expression of human creativity and it moves me as much as architecture and fashion, perhaps more, because it has that gravitas of 'all or nothing'.”

“What you see here tonight is that wonderful collaboration between the genius of art and the genius of fashion,” said Paul Green, president and founder of Halcyon Gallery. “Farah’s inspiration from these great artists has resulted in the 'art of making', and this is something that we at Halcyon are really passionate about because we deal with artists every day and we know the exacting work that goes behind every piece.”
