1. The Staircase (2004)

Suspicion, betrayal, trust and innocence–the major themes revolving the mysterious death of  Kathleen Peterson, wife of Michael Peterson. In the peak of winter of 2001, Kathleen was seen drowning in the pool of her own blood on the bottom of the couple’s Forest Hill mansion staircase. After months of grueling investigation, authorities ruled out Peterson’s statement of his wife’s drunken accidental fall, making him the prime suspect of the murder.
