The phenomenal success of the Serial podcast in 2014 sparked a public interest for true crime story-telling, and when Netflix released the chilling 10-part documentary, 'Making A Murderer', in 2015, the Internet was hooked. Since then, the live streaming platform has been churning out high-production true crime documentaries that are leaving avid fans craving for more. 2. Abducted in Plain Sight
A story of manipulation takes greater heights in the case of Idaho-born 12-year-old Jan Broberg, who was abducted twice in her teenage years by a close family friend. Skye Borgman, producer of the 90-minute documentary, said he started the project after reading the Broberg family’s book, The Stolen Innocence, and realised so many key details of the event that were left out. Don’t let the extraterrestrial elements of the documentary scare you off (don’t say we didn’t warn you!) because the plot twist will leave you stunned in your seat.
