With a stacked and talented cast such as Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, Kate Mckinnon, Helen Mirren and so many more, this Greta Gerwig film is still taking fans’ breaths away. 2. Oppenheimer
For all history enthusiasts, this one’s for you. The new and latest Christopher Nolan movie, Oppenheimer, gets a 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes as well as grossing over $650 million globally after its release in July. Starring none other than Nolan’s favourite, Cillian Murphy as Robert Oppenheimer, this biopic retells the story of World War II and the creation of the atomic bomb by Oppenheimer. If you’re a fan of history biopics or Christopher Nolan movies, this movie is right up your alley.
3. Asteroid City
Wes Anderson’s movie of the year Asteroid City has soared to the charts after its release in June, grossing over $48 million worldwide. This sci-fi comedy follows the story of a writer of a world-famous play about a grieving father and his travelling tech team. As confusing as it sounds, Asteroid City is a movie about a play within a TV show. However, the movie is a delight to watch from the first-class directing by Wes Anderson, the talented cast and especially the intriguing and enthralling storyline.
4. Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse
The second movie of the Spiderverse series hit the cinemas in June. The movie earned a 95% rate on Rotten Tomatoes and sits at $663 million at the worldwide box office. Following the first movie of the series, Across The Spider-Verse takes viewers on another exciting journey with Miles Morales who is launched into the multiverse, where he meets other versions of Spiderman. This movie checks all your boxes if you’re a Superhero or Marvel buff.
5. John Wick: Chapter 4
Keanu Reeves returns as John Wick once again. In the fourth chapter of the John Wick series, the hitman John Wick takes his fight with the High Table while seeking out the most powerful players in the underworld. The legendary action movie rates at 94% on Rotten Tomatoes upon its release in March. If you’re in the mood for some kickass action and a dreamy Keanu Reeves, start binging the John Wick series to get you in that mood.
6. Creed III
Everyone’s favourite wrestling movie, Creed, came back to the screen in March with a new chapter. Grossing over $275 million at the box office, the third chapter of the series follows Adonis Creed (Micheal B. Jordan) and his childhood friend, Damien (Jonathan Majors) who was a former boxing prodigy and is eager to prove his place in the ring. The battle between the two however is more than just a fight.
7. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3
The galaxy group is back. After the release of this Marvel movie, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 rates at 8/10 on IMDB and grosses over $845 million. This James Gunn movie follows the Guardians on their new journey after the loss of Gamora. Known to be the best movie in the Guardians of the Galaxy series, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 has it all. From the funny moments to scenes that make you misty-eyed, this movie does not disappoint. So grab your popcorn and get comfy to watch this rollercoaster of a film.
8. Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret
With a 99% on Rotten Tomatoes, Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret is at the top of the list, surpassing every movie that has come out in Malaysia. This adaption of the book written by Judy Blume, Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret, is a coming-of-age drama with a whole lot of love packed right into it. The hit movie follows an eleven-year-old girl, Margaret, who moves to a new town and starts to think about life, relationships and her teenage years. 10. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny
Harrison Ford is back in the action world. After 15 years, he returns once again as Indiana Jones. A new adventure awaits him, as he races against time to retrieve an ancient dial that can change the course of history. Followed by his estranged goddaughter (Pheobe Waller-Bridge), Indiana Jones finds himself face to face with a former Nazi who now works at NASA, Jurgen Voller (Mads Mikkelson). After the movie’s release in June, the film roped in over $300 million at the box office. Be prepared to be whipped off your feet as you watch this new and modern take on Indiana Jones.
