What is it about?
Based on Ali Hazelwood’s book of the same name, The Love Hypothesis is a STEM romance book that follows a third-year PHD candidate, Olive Smith, who fakes date with a young hotshot professor, Adam Carlsen, to prove a point to her best friend that she’s on her way to a happily ever after. When Carlsen agrees to keep the charade and be her boyfriend, Olive finds it hard to differentiate between what’s real and what’s not, when the force of attraction is bigger than they expected. And, when a big science conference puts Olive’s career at risk, Adam tries his best to show her that science and love can gel together.

Who is in the cast?
In a cute reveal, Riverdale actress Lili Reinhart posted on TikTok that she will star in the film as Olive Smith and executive produce it. Spicing things up a bit, the actress also posted a video on TikTok to unveil her co-star, Tom Bateman, as the leading man, Adam Carlsen.
Fun fact: The Love Hypothesis originated from Head Over Feet, the 2018 Star Wars romantic fan-fiction about Kylo Ren and Rey. So most omnilegent were excited to see if they would cast Star Wars actor, Adam Driver, who plays Kylo Ren. But, in a shocking turn of events that delighted those readers, Bateman is actually Daisy Ridley’s husband, who played Rey in the Star Wars film.

Who is directing the film?
The film will be directed by Claire Scanlon, the woman who brought you one of the most loved office rom-coms of all time, Netflix’s Set It Up.
