Gotska Sandön

This is an uninhabited island remote from the madding crowd. It could be described as a little slice of heaven for backpackers or solitaries looking for limited access to the outside world. Often described as an “island of the soul.”

Gotska Sandon is a great place to experience dunes extending for miles, wild seals basking in the sun, watch the horizon and abundant bird life, while listening to the sounds of the pine tree breeze on long walks. The Gotska Sandön National Park is where you should start your journey. A large portion of the island is covered by pine forest of varying ages and the beach zone is made up of sand and gravel. Sampling tea under a sturdy cypress tree more than one hundred years old, you will feel as if you had come to a fairyland in the world, far away from the hustle and bustle of normal life.
