Most Romantic Spa Destination: The St. Regis Langkawi
The last time my husband Nick and I were at this secluded paradise was two years ago, when we celebrated our wedding anniversary, just after they had opened. This time, I’m a mother of two, having just given birth to my latest baby girl Mia just six months ago. But my anticipation hasn’t changed. Who wouldn’t be excited if they’re trading diapers and baby strollers for sundresses, wide-brim hats, and some SPF?
Spa till you drop … Our first Bespoke Premium Ritual for two was a great introductory course to the top-notch Iridium Spa, where we had the signature bamboo Lomi massage, a famous technique fresh from the tropical shores of Hawaii. Every roll, knead, and rub erased the signs of tension on our bodies, leaving us deeply relaxed. Next, the Bespoke Reversive Ritual was truly a treat for us parents. My ageing skin appreciated the promise of increased cell turnover and the slowing down of its ageing process. And thanks to the Babor skincare range used for all facials, my skin had a luminous finish.
Moments to remember … Unlike other elite restaurants and hotels, the St. Regis evening ritual of champagne sabering isn’t just a show for the camera, but a storied tradition to celebrate the stunning transition of day to night on this island, and to honour the brand’s founder, John Jacob Astor IV.
Design eating … Dinners at the Bill Bensley-designed Kayu Puti, the resort’s fine-dining restaurant, were more experiential than anything. The Lang Mary cocktail at sunset set the mood, followed by chef Gaetan Christopher Biesuz’s “journey” of the best Asian-influenced cuisine that we’ve ever had—the perfect way to end a day.
