A reboot of hit series Gossip Girl could be coming soon to our screens, an executive has revealed.
The popular teen drama, which originally aired from 2007 to 2012, starred Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Ed Westwick and Penn Badgley, and followed the lives of wealthy teenagers living in the Upper East Side in Manhattan.
It was known for its high-end fashion and the elaborate lifestyles it portrayed; at the time the The New York Times called it “one of the biggest influences on how young women spend”.
The series was a hit for the US TV network The CW, with sponsors paying around £22 million for advertising opportunities in 2007 alone.
Mark Pedowitz, president of The CW, hinted at a highly-anticipated reboot, reports Deadline, saying: “There’s been discussions.”
But don’t reach for your embellished headband just yet. He added, “But I don’t know if we are there yet.”
Gossip Girl ran for six seasons across 121 episodes, that were narrated by Kristen Bell.
