Since Volvo Cars entered the Malaysian market in the early 1960s, it has grown by leaps and bounds in providing advanced capabilities. The brand continues to satiate driver demands with steadiness going at top speed. Volvo Cars Manufacturing Malaysia was established in 1967 and is now the oldest and longest-running car assembly plant in Malaysia. In their further attempt to achieve its global vision of climate neutrality by 2040, Volvo Car Malaysia is committed to bringing more awareness of the current climate challenges to Malaysia. Volvo Malaysia is the first EV car brand in Malaysia to offer a full range of PHEVs for all of its models.
With the mission of paving the road to electromobility in Malaysia, Volvo Cars Malaysia has embarked on its electrification journey with the new Volvo XC40 Recharge Pure Electric, marking the first to offer a locally assembled all-electric vehicle.
“We are delighted to launch our first pure EV in Malaysia. The launch lays the foundation for us to become the leading electric luxury car brand in the country. To support this, we are committed to launching a new electric vehicle every year for next 5 years. In addition, we have the capabilities to assemble our own pure EVs for the local and other ASEAN markets.” said Charles Frump, Managing Director of Volvo Car Malaysia.
Based on the XC40 lightweight premium SUV, the XC40 Recharge Pure Electric features an all-electric all-wheel-drive powertrain that provides a range of up to 418 kilometers on a single charge and a top speed of 180 kilometers per hour. In addition, the Volvo Grand Marais is offering a no-hassle flat-rate feature that includes a charging cable, service package, 5 years vehicle warranty, 8 years HV battery warranty, and 5 years of roadside assistance.
