Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie Pitt are reuniting on the big screen for the first time since Mr & Mrs. Smith‘s 2005 release. The couple’s new film, By The Sea, was written and directed by Jolie Pitt and chronicles an estranged husband and wife traveling through France in the ’70s. The dark and dramatic film was shot in Malta last year while Jolie and Pitt were on their real-life honeymoon. Jolie spoke out to the Director’s Guild Association about the challenges of directing and co-starring in the film with Pitt, “I’d be directing myself and him in a scene where we’re having a fight, and I’d be pulling out the parts [of him] that have an aggression toward me or when you’re frustrated with each other—it was very heavy.” Watch the first trailer for the film below:
