La DoubleJ founder JJ Martin

“It just so happened that I moved into a new and empty apartment one week before the virus. Although I was able to paint the place, install a kitchen and the bones of a closet so I could hang clothes, the rest of my belongings are without a home and I’m without furniture. But it has made me ask myself, ‘how do I relate to the space and how do I sit in emptiness?’ – both physically and spiritually. This is a part of my mediation practice and I have been setting up my own personal space for yoga, meditation and prayer work. I have also started organising on a micro level with what I have got access to: going through old letters and photos and placing them on frames that eventually might look great on the wall. I have a large collection of vintage jewellery too (which is how I started La DoubleJ in 2015, which I am also running from home right now) and I have decided to hang all my vintage necklaces on the wall in the guest bathroom as artwork!”
