This month, our attention is focused on Netflix’s newest dystopian series, Black Night, featuring Kim Woo-bin (known for his role in The Heirs) as the lead. Additionally, watch out for ‘All That We Loved’, a heartwarming story of love and friendship, which stars Exo’s Sehun, that will definitely get your heart tugging.

If you adored the mythical tale behind the Tale of the Nine-Tailed, the wait for season two is finally over. The continuation of Yi Yeon’s story (Lee Dong-Wook) lives in this next sequel, except only this time, Yi Yeon is transported to 1938.

Black Knight

Premiering on 12 May

Set in 2071, the sci-fi series follows the story of Knight 5-8 (portrayed by Kim Woo-bin). The narrative takes place in a world plagued by extreme air pollution, with a survival rate of just 1% divided into strict social classes and rules. As residents cannot leave their homes, they rely on Knights to deliver necessities and provide protection from thieves. Knight 5-8, a high-skilled knight, later serves as a role model to a refugee who aspires to become a Knight.

All That We Loved

Premiering on 5 May

All That We Loved follows three 18-year-olds as they discover the essence of love and learn the importance of friendship. Still, things take a complicated turn when two best friends, Go Yoo (Exo’s Sehun) and Go Joon-hee (Jo Joon-Young), both develop feelings for the new transfer student Han So-yeon (Jang Yeo-bin), putting their friendship to the ultimate test.

Tale of the Nine-Tailed 1938

Premiering on 6 May

Starring Lee Dong Wook and Jo Bo Ah, the sequel of The Tale of the Nine-Tailed returns. When a male gumiho (a mythical nine-tailed fox) named Yi Yeon finds his happy ending with Nam Hi Ah, the new season transports us on a trip to 1938. Just when he thought he found his footing in the present day, an unfortunate incident transports him to the past where humans and mountain gods co-exist. Can Yi Yeon find his way back to his lover?

RACE

Premiering on 10 May

Race follows the life of Park Yoon-jo, a PR professional determined to succeed in the most triumphant public relations company. However, she later discovers she was only employed as a “diversity hire” and tries to prove everyone wrong. In the meantime, her highly-skilled best friend Jae-min continues to thrive in the company but sets a clear boundary between his personal life and work. Will Yoon-jo learn to master the traits of being a top PR professional on her own? There’s only one way to find out.

My Perfect Stranger

Premiering on 1 May

If you’re interested in fantasy-meets-crime drama, check out My Perfect Stranger. The tale follows Hae Jun, a successful news anchor who wants to uncover the truth behind a murder case from the past. Yet, he later discovers a rare time machine which allows him to travel to the year 1987. Little does he know, he meets Yoon Young, who unexpectedly finds herself in the same timeline to prevent her parents wedding. As they attempt to find their way back to the present time, the two realise their mission may be aligned.

Oh! Young-sim

Premiering on 15 May

In case you were wondering, yes, this is a remake of the Korean animation Young Shim. The rom-com follows a sweet reunion between two childhood best friends, Oh Young Shim and Wang Kyung Tae. As they navigate their lives as 30-year-olds, we dive deep into a familiar tale of the joys and hardships of their friendship.
